MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel presently take advantage of a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting with the UK sustainable biodiesel .

Mr George stated "a variety of little services in Cornwall currently generate income from used cooking oil".

He included: "In order to have the ability to get this sort of industry going it does require just a little bit of lift which is available in the type of tax inevitable."

Biodiesel is a blend of standard diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
